Oh my god...Haha, wow I didn't think I'd see her go that far in the pictures. I have coconut fiber. Haven't had any problems.

is she laying eggs? I dont think shell die from coconut fiber because when its wet its not hard and compact its soft and moist but still may be bad if he eats to much(not assuming shes eating it just saying :p ) but it may be good to find out why shes doing it in the first place I think because of eggs even without a mate I hear they lay unfertilized eggs so.... maybe that! I may be wrong though. Just make sure she dosent eat large quantites of the stuff and is just digging there.

coco fiber isnt the best thing, it isnt as strong or diggable as moist play sand. she has already started though so dont disturb her. just be careful to not let her see you, but monitor her making sure that the husk doesnt collapse on her.

just to be sure the only time they dig is when they have to lay?
b/c the thing is she doesnt have gravid colors or look any different from out of the ordinary. :\
the only thing that has been different with her is she hasnt been eating as much lately...and i figured that was just b/c the temp change it has been a little cooler then what it has been.

I use washed play sand. Camille, my female veiled, never changes colors…..she just stays blue all the time. The only time I've seen her change colors is when she sees my male then she'll turn velvet black with turquoise spots. As soon as she can no longer see my male she will put her pretty blues back on.

since she has already started digging etc will she be in there over night?
or will she come out to sleep in her usuall spot?
i could go out and buy sand and switch it out while she is asleep if that is the case.

shes laying eggs. im assuming she is veiled because of her colours. black with turquoise blue spots is gravid colours in veiled chams. i assume you have them seperated? that would be why she doesnt display gravid colours all the time.

She may sleep in the hole all night and then lay in the morning. I would leave it just as it is.

she is a veiled just over a year old now, first time she has ever dug or lis laying. she hasnt mated or ever even seen a male ...she is on her second hole now but today is the first day she has started digging

will do ...since coconut fiber dries out quickly i dont want it to lose its (stickyness) or whatever you want to call it i have been misting it with warm water here and there whenever she isnt looking is that fine?

update.... so iv checked on ruru all thru the night she spent the night in her laying bin ....im super worried :( im so affraid she is going to be egg bound...keeping my fingerscrossed and hoping for the best b.c i dont want to disturb her.

She is digging that is half of the battle. She will be fine. Keep us posted & let us know if she finds any nice chams in China.:D:D

she hasnt laid yet this morning she is still in her bin and from the looks of it shes going to spend another night in there.
&& thanks laurie!! lol i def will :D

is she still in there? if she comes out and nothing has looked accomplished (shes still fat, or doesnt look too much thinner) you will need to bring her to the vets right away for oxytocin shots, one may do it, but it could go above that. keep us posted, hope ruru pops them suckers out :)

I would not rush to the vet, give the girl some time, then when you are last when you feel she needs to lay see the vet. Usually chameleons lay when they are ready without us helping. jmo

if she comes out of the hole and goes back up on her vines for a day, still looking like there are eggs, dont you think there is some kind of a problem? i know what you're saying, but i am not implying taking her out of the hole by any means nessecary
