The miracle of life has blessed our home! Yesterday around 3p.m. my female had finished giving birth to 18 healthy babys! Everyone is, so far, healthy, eating like pigs, drinking like a fish and having fun exploring there habitat! "Kermit the mom" has been chowing down and taking it easy. She is her beautiful bright green self again. Hopefully everyone will continue to do good and we have minimal heart breaks. I did want to ask if its ok that I gave the babys supplements immediately. Before I gave them there pinheads i did dust them with multi-vite and calcium but then realized i wasn't sure if they could properly digest the supplements. That will be good for them I hope. Also, should they be on the standard supplement schedule or do babys need more or less? Thank you and please keep your figures crossed for us!

i hpe for the best and luv jacksons:cool:

Thank you so much every-one! Just an update, we have not lost any baby's yet. They have consumed 200 pinheads total. They are still drinking good as well.

Awesome! The babies look good, too! Can you get fruit flies? Those are a good choice and then house flies after they get a bit bigger. I know you are in Hawaii so I am not sure what feeders are available.

Are you keeping them outside in screen enclosures?

My jacksons are the subspecies C. j. xantholophus.

They are all still doing great with the exception of one. It looks like one of the babys has an injured leg, its a different color than the rest of his body, a grayish color, looks a bit off, and he is not able to use it as well. The hand is functional but it seems like his front leg cant "keep up" with the other 3. I had a bearded dragon who couldn't use her front leg, we raised her from the egg and she is almost 5 years old and manages just fine. hopefully this little guy does ok as well.

I would really like to be aggressive with his calcium intake. Any words of advice? I have only given the litter one go with the supplements (calcium w/D3, multi-vite) with there first meal but was unsure if that was ok so i haven't done it since. Does any-one know for sure the procedure to follow regarding supplementing the babys?

Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys! I will try and post some more pictures soon! They are getting chubby little baby bellies!!!! So cute!

We have been breeding fruit flies in a large pumpkin with a small hole cut in it, and when we need to get some into the enclosure we open the door and give the pumpkin a good shake in the enclosure and quickly close the door. They have a good sized screened enclosure with a kukui nut tree, orchids and a few other plants. They go out during the day (if its not dark, cold and rainy) and I bring them in at night. I know they are animals that come from the wild but i just feel terrible keeping them out at night or when its nasty out! A nice light rain is good for them, but borderline hurricane weather must be unpleasant to them

Congrats...We also hatched our first mt kenyans a couple of mos ago...I have used the same supplement schedule for these babies as for the panther and veileds...

What are you keeping the temps at?

temps have been around 75 here, give or take a few degrees. Congrats to you too!!! It is so amazing seeing all the little ones do there thing!!! We love them to bits! Thanks for the supplement info. I wasn't sure if they could properly digest supps, the last thing we wanted to do was make the odds for survival any less!
