My first breeding project - panther clutch eggs!

Hi all,

A little over a month ago I purchased an ambilobe female in hopes of breeding with my ambilobe cross. Well, everything went smoothly and textbook-perfect from the copulation to me digging up the eggs. Now the real wait begins! :D

My incubator is a ziploc setup with sphagnum moss (ran around all over town with no luck finding anyone with vermiculite in stock :( ) but it will suffice right? I got the moss all wet first and then squeeze dried it until there was no more water dripping out. The temp is currently at 75 up in my closet with plenty of moisture and humidity. I have my ziploc in a cardboard box; is that necessary?

Anyways, here are the pics. Clutch size of 24; I'm really excited! I hope they all make it :D

Female purchased from chameleonco (thanks Jim!) The inlet is a picture of her brother showing the morph colors:

After laying eggs - quite deflated! Sorry no gravid pics but she was HUGE! Gestation period was exactly 22 days to anyone curious. However, she didn't look the least bit gravid up until the last few days before laying time, which had me worried. I used a 5 gallon bucket from Home depot and regular potting soil for her chamber, it worked perfect even in just a 16x16x32 cage

24 Little pearls! All lookin healthy and fertile

The little ones are obviously going to be an unknown cross morph, and only have the intention of selling them that way. Thanks for lookin everybody! :)

now i am worried

My panther female has been gravid for 5 weeks? you stated yours was only 22 days? She is young under 1yr and has been starting to dig but then stops. i have a 5 gal bucket full to the top with potting soil now in a large cage, (she was loose on the front porch before). Is there anything else i can do to make her lay them?

Hmm when I made my chamber I put the old plant in her cage into the bucket so it would take up more space and give her darker areas to burrow in which I think they like, instead of just having an open bed. Also, I only filled it to about 6 inches below the rim, making sure the soil was moist with my mister and packed relatively well to provide good structure when she digs. Make sure she has privacy; notice my pajama pants covering one side of her wall! She was in the corner of the room and had little interuptions. Other than that, I noticed her starting to dig only a few days before she laid. Good luck :D

Also, lowe's was sold out and they didn't have any orders coming in. :(

Wow that was quick...I have her sister #337. She is still chillin' in her own cage. I am hoping she will be ready to go in a month or two.

turtleboy...did she see you watching her when she was digging??

When I went to look at her a few days ago before I knew she was digging I couldn't find her anywhere; but alas I found her digging near the roots of her ficus tree. Once I saw this, I bought the bucket and soil from home depot the day of and put the plant inside that. The next few days she continued to dig in this, but no, I always tried to be as discreet as possible whenever I try to get a peek. I read so much about people having eggbound problems so I didn't make my presence noticable at all when she was digging/laying. A lot of the times when I saw her she would be face first digging in, or just burrowed up inside her hole with her eyes closed, not even noticing me.
