I've had Jose for a week and whenever I put my hand in his cage to give him more food he will run away from me, still. I've hand fed him 1 time but he was in a good mood that day. Anyone know whatsup?
A week isn't much time at all. Don't expect him to want to come near you for a lot longer (but just how long is really hard to predict). First, he has to learn that you are not going to eat him...so getting him used to your daily chores around and inside his cage. His cage isn't his territory yet so he's reacting to everything. Once he's not so worried about your hand, start offering a favorite treat in a cup, not your hand directly. Once he learns that you are a source of goodies it will help. Don't expect him to like your "intrusion" a lot, just tolerate it.
well just stay patient, also dont move like you are afraid if they lunge or make threats, stay calm move slow, offer food and water..they get over it eventually..these are the friendlyest ive had yet, but most chams learn to enjoy off time from their usual everyday stuff..

Thanks for your insight but I had a hard time getting them to jump into their new cages as they out grew their old ones.
Cage transfers or full cleanings are the only time I bother mine.

. All i'm saying is it's just soo hard to not want to interact with our Chams..I personally would like to wear a cricket jacket and take a toung lashing !lol
A lot of other things stress them slightly, but seems we just can help it.
I take my Cham out and my wife (he seems to like her hair) handles him while i clean his cage.
