okay, so i bought a jackson cham. from a petstore and apparently she was prego when i got her. i came home the other night and there are babies everywhere! im in desperate need of help! i cant afford to keep them all, although they are super cute, and i want to make sure they all get good help....help a noob out?

Congrats! How many babies did she have? They are so cute - I went to visit my friend's two week old babies a couple of weeks ago and I loved them all! I have been doing a lot of research into baby Jacksons, as I am getting my first one in a couple of weeks - search for posts/threads by Xanthoman and jdog1027, who both have a lot of great advice regarding Jackson care.

thank you! i have 15 of them, it seems to be mostly males, but some females i have noticed! i dunno if it would be safe to give them to people but i mean there has to be people out there that are better suited to tend to the little ones more than me! hahaha, i just want them all to be healthy! i would hate for them to die because i couldnt give them proper care

well if you lived in california, ied take a few off yer hands, maybe post them in the faunaclassifieds, maybe some people that would be interested will be close to you...

Baby Jacksons especially have more need to get temps right and not keep them too hot - I believe that is crucial to their survival. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to start shipping them out at such a young age. My friend has 15 baby Jacksons and she worries about them constantly that they may get too hot. She is well aware that although they have all survived thus far, it is entirely possible that she may still lose some or all of them. At 5 weeks old they are not out of danger yet. They are not so easy to 'get right' as Veileds and Panthers from what I have learnt. You may have more success with learning how to care for them yourself.

The babies should not get any hotter than 74 - 78F ambient and need a good drop in temps at night of at least 10 degrees. Humidity should also be about 60% through the day and about 80 - 85% at night. These figures are what I have learnt from others that have raised Jackson babies. I have also read conflicting things about providing a basking spot but I do know that they are far more able to tolerate cooler temps than hotter ones.

thanks for the feedback everyone! i recently got them some fruit flies going and got a decent set up for now! they seem to be doing well. They are eating and drinking water no problem! its really interesting to have them around, i was really nervous at first but it seems to be going well!

i will try and get some pictures up here soon! I decided i am going to give it a shot at rasing these guys! i am excited to learn and get right into doing it! I wanted to ask if anyone has any chameleon gear around that they arent using that i could buy. Chameleon stuff is kinda limited around here and i know i could use a ton of stuff! send me a PM and let me know what you have, i am more than willing to buy! anything from food, cages, lights....anything! if you know anyone with stuff have them PM as well!

go to petco and load up on fruit flies. they are cheap so you can buy a couple cups of them and that will last you for a bit.

here is two of them hanging out. as you can see they were more occupied with other stuff going on rather than me. sorry the quality is not as great! its a cell phone picture! They were too busy to pose with all the fruit flies going around! hahaha! enjoy though :)

I am really glad you decided to keep them instead of sending them to me. Like I said not to keep them would mean you would miss out on so much. But I am counting on picture updates as they grow.

I live in Saint Joe, MI which is pretty close to Elkharts. Its About 35 Minute away!! I could take a couple off your hands if your looking for experienced cham owners!!

for now i have decided to keep them and raise them up somewhat! im sure down the road i will be ready to get them to homes!

Awww, so glad they are doing ok! I am also glad you decided to keep them! I would love to experience baby chams of my own one day, it must be the most amazing thing to watch them grow and change! I look forward to you posting updated photos as they grow up!:D
