Hey guys,

I've been doing research on chameleons since June and finally got Vector, my veiled chameleon, a few weeks back. I got him in particular because he was the nicest chameleon I'd ever met, even eager to come out of the cage and be held. When I got him home, I put him in a temporary 10 gallon aquarium home, just until I could find a good screened in cage for him. He was continuously nice until a few days later when I put him in his more permanent home. He then hissed at me and tried to bite me every time I tried to take him out, so I put him back in the 10 gallon just to see what would happen and he was nice again. Now he's back in his screen cage and nastier than ever and I don't know what's going on because I think everything is set up right for him. Let me know what you all think and I can post pics of the cage setup if it would be useful.

Thanks,
Grace

I was told...

I have a 3-4 month old male veiled chameleon, and he pretty much hates me. I can get a short peek at him and off he goes. I was told by a reptile dealer I get my crickets from that chameleons are like saltwater fish - something to be admired and to look at. I think abut this each time I'd love to hold him or get him to be more friendly. They get stressed easily - the one time I was able to get him on my hand it felt like he was buzzing he was so nervous. I see other's here who handle their pets and they certainly seem comfortable, but I have given up and let him be. Maybe give yours more time in his new surroundings before trying to make him be who you want him to be.
