My brand new vivarium is swelling.

I can't believe that I bought a brand new vivarium which was custom made with a glass bottom, it cost £266.00 with the cabinet I've used it for five days and one side of the viv is swelling. I bought this ready made so everything was sealed, has anyone else had problems with their new vivs. I'm going to be on the phone tomorrow am, and my chameleon has just started eating I don't want to stress him out even more with another change later.

Unless the wood has been stabilized your gonna get swelling...especially with the humidity that chams need. Try to put it near an A/C unit......might help....might.

swelling? What exactly do you mean? can you post a pic?

who made your tank and/or how was it made? (What did they use do you know?)

like the other poster said, an excessive use of wood could cause your problem...especially if you are referring to the frame.

a pic would really help

I used sealent on my DIY cage and have no problems just put in a draining system it may be particle board they are using idk but sealanty stain finisher worked for me because i was scared of the same thing happening to you.

What I mean by swelling, is water gets into the wood, and the wood swells up. I have had good news today, the manager of the shop is going to order a brand new viv for me as it is the manufactures fault. I had this viv custom built, it even had a glass floor built inside it to stop the moisture getting into the wood. All I can think of is it wasn't sealed properly. I would prefer a mesh cage but as I live in the uk, we haven't got the weather you guys have in the states and warmer countries.
