My 2010 Decade Chameleon Poster

Motherlode Chameleon

Chameleon Enthusiast
Howdy Everyone

This is my 2010 Chameleon Decade poster. The poster is a compilation of some of my photographs, of many individual chameleons I have kept, and of many species (some of them are extremely exotic species) put together to make a decades worth of chameleons for a poster. The poster has been hanging on the wall for a couple of days now and I am happy with the way the poster turned out. This poster has a "Woww!" factor to it. When I walk by the poster and I start looking at it, I stay in front of this poster for 15-20 minutes just looking. The poster is remarkable when I go down memory lane. I thank Victoria of Victoria's Framing in Angels Camp, California for putting the photo's together and framing this 2010 Chameleon Decade Poster. She did a great job. This is a poster of most not all of the chameleons I kept during the 2010-2020 decade.

Very nice! And quite the collection of chameleons. I am curious as to what species was/is your oldest surviving?

Thanks much. Most of these chameleons were kept at the same time as each other inside my greenhouse or aquarium room.

My oldest to date is Rhinos my male Orange Eye White Lip Calumma parsonii parsonii. Rhinos died at the end of 2018. He was two months away from (what I estimated) his twelve year old birthday.

Charles my male Trioceros deremensis and Socrates my male Furcifer pardalis were both about seven years old. Stephan my little male Trioceros pfefferi male lived about four to five years.

Thanks much Kinyonga. I think that is one thing that makes the keeping chameleons hobby great. There is an enormous selection of spectacular and remarkable chameleons out there in our world. As keepers we are privileged to have the opportunity to keep and work with them. Just we have to remember to take care of these species in their native habitats. That should allow a 2020 Chameleon decade poster.

I actually think both Charles and Socrates were more round 8 years old. I acquired Charles and Carly as a pair of Trioceros deremensis from Luis Wiedeman at The Responsible Herpeteculturist as one year olds in 2009. Then I acquired Socrates my male Ambanja Furcifer pardalis from Jim Flahtery of the Chameleon Company as a six moth old in 2009. They both passed away around 2015-2016.

Just some notes to make it more apparent what is going on.

Found my acquisition and passing notes. I was looking through my receipts before.

Socrates was one year old when I acquired him from Amazing Blue Chameleons (not the Chameleon Company). He lived with me from 6/2009 to 3/2016. Socrates was about eight years old. Charles was acquired from Luis @ The Responsible Herpeticulturist at one year of age. He lived with my from 3/2012 to 1/2016. Charles was five years old, not as old as I recalled. Then Stephan was acquired from vendor on KIngsnake as a WC adult (estimated minimum two years old). He lived with me from 9/2013-1/2016. Stephan was an estimated minimum four and a half years old Trioceros pfefferi.
