MMMMM Fruit beetle grubs...YUM!!!

Hi All,

Just wanted to share Simba's treat with you.

He was rather grumpy as in the middle of a shed as you can see so I thought I'd treat him to a couple of fruit beetle grubs...

Then I gave him an extra misting to help with his shedding:

Then down went the grub and he just sat and enjoyed the misting:

So, shedding isn't that bad after all!! LOL

He ate 2 (covered in Chameleon Dust Calci Plus) so I reckon he'll be full for about a week now as they're rather chunky!!

These fruit beetle grubs are beautiful when they're adults!

There seems to be a grub in the tub which has made itself a dirt ball to cocoon in....so I might have an adult soon??

good for you your cham eats fruit beetle larvae, mine ignores them completely because they don't move and wiggle around as much as mealworms and silkworms!
i paid 6 euros for like 7 of those and my cham didn't even try to eat them ! thanks god i also have a red eared slider (or terrapin as u call them in the UK ) which eats almost ANYTHING!!

I have never heard of fruit grubs, wonder if we have them here? Always looking for more food choices.

They're brilliant Laurie, they look like shrimp with a superworm head. Not seen them over here yet though.

They are also known as Pachnoda grubs - the larval stage of the Sun Beetle. Apparently they can get quite large before they pupate!

Yeah sorry I haven't been on in a while

Been feeling really sickly with being preggers n have just ended up in bed early not long after coming in from work for the past few weeks.

Hoping it'll subside now I'm approaching 12 weeks so I'm hoping to be on more often.

I hope I am forgiven

Simba seemed to enjoy the grubs. Yes they are huge! Big fat juicy grubs. He'll not eat for a week now! Lol
