Feeder/Supplementation Diary

Just wondered how many people have one really? I knowSandra regularly blogs hers. Fascinating!!

Just had quite a bit of fun over the last hour reading through Sandras gutloading blogs, working out which fruit/veg I regularly have in and which of them can be used as staple or occasional gutload additions for the feeders.

What I can feed each feeder was good to know too :)

I'll blend about 3 ingredients together and make feeder cubes which will be frozen. Can then use them as needed. (Making 2 batches to alternate between)

Thanks for that Sandra! ;) So helpful!!! :D

I've decided to keep a record of what Simba is fed as well as the supplements he gets. Who knows, it may come in handy one day to look back on, but will deffo help me out on making sure I don't give him his Vit A supp. too often ;)

Here's what I have so far(for those of you who are remotely interested LOL!):

Tues 22.1.13 - 6 x locusts. Gutloaded with Bug grub(BG) Bee pollen(BP) Collard, carrot and apple the day before feeding to Simba (last of that batch of feeder cubes). Calcium only supplement.

Thurs 24.1.13 - 2 x fruit beetle grubs. Small bits of mango in compost. Vit A drop on back of 1 feeder and Calcium only.

Coming feeds:

Sat 26.1.13 - 6 x locusts. BG, BP, Orange, rocket and cabbage. Calcium only

Sun 27.1.13 - 6 x butterworms or mealworms depending on size of butters. Carrot. Repashy Calci plus.

Tues 29.1.13 - 6 x locusts. BG, BP, Spinach, Pepper, Tomato. Calcium only.

Thurs 31.1.13 - 6 x mealworms/butterworms. Carrot and or Apple. Calci Plus

Sat 2.2.13 - 6 x locusts. BG,BP, Orange, Rocket and cabbage. Calcium only.

Sun 3.2.13 - 2 x fruit grubs. Tiny bits of Mango, apple and grape in compost. Calci plus

Tues 5.2.13 - 6 x locusts. BG,BP, Spinach, tomato and pepper. Calcium only

Thurs 7.2.13 - 6 x butterworms. Carrot. Vit A drop on back of 1 feeder. No Calcium as this feeder high in Ca anyway.

So that takes me to the next Vit A supplementation next month (2 weeks time).

I won't bore you with the details of every feed for the rest of his life. I will keep a record though and hopefully will be adding additional feeders over the coming weeks (When silks back in stock, as well as roaches :p )

Right then, I'm off to make those 2 batches of gutload for the locusts :p Oh and I better put the bits of fruit in for the fruit grubs now too as they prefer it when it decays apparently

God I bloody love my hobby!!!!:D

That takes me into next month.

When I want another opinion or just want to learn something else about keeping chams, feeders etc I also go to Sandra's posts and have found them to be very informative THANKS SANDRA!!!!!

Woo hoo, silkworms back in stock so ordered them and some large dubia roaches to add to the mix, depending on when they get delivered :)

I have always kept records of what mine eat, what supplements are used, poop/urates and anything that I think may be useful to note for future reference. I devised a form on Word and print them out and fill the details in every day. Monty has today eaten 2 crickets, a calciworm and 3 dubias which is a really good day for him! Although he is very spoilt and will only hand feed or eat when he's out of his cage! He's as eccentric as he looks, bless him! :D Just makes me love him all the more!

Glad someone finds those logs useful :)
Another thing you might like to keep track of is your chameleons weight. If your chameleon tolerates handling well, you can weight weekly, otherwise monthly or even every other month.

Oh I do!!

I thought about that yeah, but he doesn't like being handled. I think the once a month thing would be ok, as I could do it when I do the monthly blitz of his enclosure. I'll wait till beginning of Feb I think though as he's had a lot to contend with over the past few days, what with the enclosure changes, eye issue etc... then I know to do it at the beginning of every month (Weigh and clean :) )

Will be good to see what he does weigh! What's the best way to do the actual weighing?
