misting system controls....

Doing some bench testing with the temp and humidity sensors....

I set up some LEDs to show if the humidity reaches a preset high or low... and to tell me if the temp gets too hot. (yes..... my computer has a lot of papers spread about.... :eek:)

Here are the temp sensors.... neat little guys. Each one has its own ID or address. So you hook all of the 'signal' wires to one wire and the control card separates the signals based on the ID.

When I started out with these control cards there was some confusion. At first I was worried about the amount of 'timers' or clock triggers they have. The way the manual is writen it sounds like there are only 20 timers. Meaning..... the number of operations to be triggered based on a time would be limited. After some playing aorund I learned that EACH output has 20 'timers' This is GOOD news! I am eager to play with these some more... just trying to learn the programming and tinkering. The issue I am running into is..... MONEY! Need money to wrap this project up. I can patch things together... but I want it to look clean... and need more parts... so.. steady as she goes... :cool:
 
With all that cables, boards, and fancy shmancy tools, I would suspect you are making a bionic chameleon instead of a misting system.

I found some online. lol It isn't all that hard actually... just need to get the hang of it.

Just an update....

I have the controller operating the RO system (RO booster pump, two feed valves and the bypass valve) and now it controls two misting valves and the Mist King pump I use for the misters.

This morning... somehow... the controller got a little wet. The board didn't cook or burn or fry..... It just neglected to turn off the misters! :eek: The chams got a 25 minute mist this morning lol. I dried off the board and cleaned it up and made sure it was covered better from any mist blowing around from the cages. Luckily my GF was home most of the day and I showed her how to over ride the system in case it decided to mess up again. She said it didn't have any issues through the day.... So.... lesson learned: don't get it wet!

Right now on my bench testing unit I have a program runing with a temp sensor, it turns off the heat lamps when the temp in the room reaches more than 82. So far its working... But I am not ready to trust the controler with 110VAC. So it just turns on and off a relay.. The low voltage stuff is fine for now as I work out bugs and become familiar with the unit.
 
Was sitting here talking to Elisa about how my computer's power supply took a shit... and she asked if it effected my controller... I explained how I can access the control card from any computer on my network, just enter the IP of the controller into IE or Firefox or Safari.... and it made me think... What about my iPhone?! So... I gave it a try, total control. Im not sure why I am supprised... but it is cool, I can turn on or program from my phone as long as it is logged into my WiFi :D
