Misting Humidfiier

I just got a 2 gallon misting humidfier from walgreens, this thing puts out a lot of mist, my whole cage looks like a rainforest of wafting fog with this thing on, its spectacular

my only question is how often should I run it?

it seems like with this thing point at all my plants, they would never dry out on that side of the cage, and i probably also wouldn't want my guy breathing that very wet air all the time or would i?

how often do you guys run your timers on these things?

intermittently? all day? hour on hour off?

Wouldn't that raise the humidity up greatly? Then couldn't that make your Cham more prone to respitory infections?

i'm not sure i know a lot of people use them for supplemental humidity

it says on the flchams page its okay to point a humidifier at a cage as long as u keep it clean, i have always used a vicks humidfier, fan type, but that only raises the humidity a lil bit this one really shoots the mist out!

I think the whole high humidity and URI is a crock.
Sure the fog is a little heavy, but rainforest humidity is 100% or darn near it.
I think it would effect Veileds more.
High humdity for Pathers is good, because it will help them shed.
You know your doing it right when all of the shed is completed is less than a day.
Dank has Panthers anyways, so good luck.

I think high humidity helps most chams shed well. But from my understanding as chams get older they don't shed all at once like they do when they are younger. An example would be a veileds casque will shed prolly twice as much as the rest of the body until they are fully grown.

i have one of these too. altough i don't have my cham yet(this weekend or next mondya).i am eager to hear what others have to say as well.
i too thought it was suppose to be pretty humid for them,as long as they are in a all screen cage not sure i understand the problem.

ive got a humidifier right next to my cage and i run it for about 4 hours over the course of the day. 1 when im at home and for about 3 hours when im out of the house. my humidity is always at a good range-60-75 and it puts drops of water on the leaves for sherman to drink. When i first got it and turned it on, the fog spooked him a little bit but over about a week he got to realizing what it was and the only thing that i can use to describe how he is when the machine gets turned on is like a little kid in the middle of a hot summer with his face in front of a window air conditioner just getting blasted. Hell climb to the same spot when i spray the whole cage because he likes it. he shed in about 8 hours so i think that really helped. the only problem that i have at keeping a constant humidity like that is little mushrooms are growing at the base of the plants that i pluck out every day. my ficuses are thriving and getting huge foliage. i like it but i still spray 3 times a day and drip so that the water is more dense on the leaves.

The whole thing with URI and humidity, IMHO, happened when there is too much humidity and no air flow.

Just remember that you do not want the cage to be overly humid for mold reason.

URI = High Humidity + low to no air flow.

I use a humidifier in my habitat. It generates a considerable amount of fog and my montane cham seems to really enjoy. I have a Vornado mini fan working the air flow and as such there have been no problems with 12 hours a day of the fog.

A URI tends to arise from a few factors..the most notable is when you have a combination of high humidity with no air flow.
