Misting at night?

Should I mist my chams terrarium ar night? And if I should, should I do it with hot water or regular temp? I am asking this because i was informed that chameleons need high humidity at night and in his terrarium its all day and night 40%..

No, dont mist at night. I would get a fogger, and run it only at night. I run mine from 10:30pm to 5:30am.

I do have a fogger but its spraying too luch water and ground gets wet and Im scared because I dont know if too much water can destroy this wood..I mean man who sold me this terrarium said its waterproof but Im not sure..

I had a tank like this for my hamster made out of the same wood (from the looks of it) and it definitely was not waterproof

Unless he sealed that like Crazy, OSB (what that is) is about the worst wood to get wet. You get that stuff wet and expands and swells and busts with extreme quickness.

Its really not a good wood product, its just 1/3 the price of other plywood.

Can something happen to my cham if its always 40% humidity. And if I must get humidity higher how can I do it without getting everything wet?

You cant, Humidity is the measure of the amount of Water molecules in Air. Humid means wet air, no such thing as Dry humidity.

OSB cages, are not suitable for a Chameleon is about the end of story here. People use them for Beardies, and such, but there is no water, and low humidity. It can be sealed, and I think some folks do use OSB, and seal it with epoxy. However straight unsealed OSB, is not a proper viv for a Chameleon IMO.

Depends on the build idea, and any wood will need to be sealed.

its fine to mist at night a couple times for less than a min , just enough to cover the cage with small droplets .

they will lose water if they are constantly breathing in dry air , I would run a fogger at night to keep the humidity up , just keep in mind a fogger will need to be cleaned out daily .

I run mine for about 6 hours at night and I don't really get 100 rh at night but I know the cage does get good air flow , my chameleons are fine with about 80 percent rh . I stopped trying to chase numbers an just observe how my chameleons are acting . not only that they get morning misting's a dripper for the day and misting when the lights go off . I offer many other options for them to hydrate

This care sheet from chameleon academy looks like it specifies to mist only at night/early morning and have a dripper going later in the day. This is specific for panther chams - not sure if the other species care sheets are different

What do you guys think about misting in place of a dripper for the afternoon spot in that care sheet? I have no way of automating a dripper to turn on/off and I would be at work during those times

Edit: it would of course be a mist of only a short period of time (2-3 minutes probably)
