I'm so excited!!

Simba's Mist King arrived today, so I've spent the evening setting it up.

Thanks very much for your help with this Marty!! Arrived well in time for us going away on Thursday! ;)

Soon as camera cable arrives I'll post a vid of it in action :D

Tried moving the tubing from the pump to the nozzle around a few times as the vibration of the tubing was causing a rather annoying noise and the enclosure to vibrate/knock.

Have managed to get it so the tubing isn't touching anything and there's only a very slight vibration while misting is taking place.

Simba didn't seem to mind it and drank straight away ;)

My question though is on misting times.

I'm now not using the dripper or the spray bottle, just the MistKing on a timer.

Have set it to mist for 5 minutes 4 times a day (8am, 11am,2pm and 5pm, then lights out at 8pm). Is 5 mins too long?

5 minutes might be a bit short, but if you don't have drainage that can handle longer misting, what you have is good.

Thanks hun!

Will monitor it over the next couple of days see how it's going and amend if needed ;)

5 mins seems long enough for Simba to drink n give everything a good soak n not too much excess water to drain :D

He's doing so much better. Eating every other day now. HUGE silkie today so only ate one :p

I'm so relieved he'll be automatically misted while we're away.

Feeding him just before we go away, n will leave a couple of feeders in there in case he feels the need over the weekend, then feed again as soon as we get back.

He should be ok I reckon :D

Thursday to Monday.

I figure if he is fed on Thursday before we go, then I leave a couple of silks in there, he'll probably leave them until Saturday/Sunday, as he doesn't eat every day, then we are back on Monday so I'll feed him again then.

Enough water in the reservoir tank for misting and have put a much deeper drainage tray under his enclosure so it won't overflow.

My sister was willing to house sit and look after him but she is heavily pregnant so didn't want to put her out.

I'm pretty confident he'll be ok after going nearly 2 weeks without eating not long ago!! LOL

I've left my Chams for 5 nights before. Although I did get a friend to pop in and check on them a couple of times.

The main things to do are....
  • Change light bulbs (Basking)
  • Fill reservoir
  • Leave some food
  • Make sure drainage is working and doesnt get blocked!

He'll be fine! Shame you dont live any closer or I'd offer to help out!

Awwww, thanks hun, that's kind of you, but u do live a bit far away ;)

He'll be fine.

Everything on your list sorted ;)

Here's his MistKing. Best I can do for now until his big custom built setup is done:

Will try n get a vid of it in action tomorrow morning ;)

I ordered my Mist King today so I was looking to see what times and intervals I should set it to so I looked at your post. Your cham looks happy so I think will emulate your settings. 4 times a day for about 5 min sounds like a great place to start. I will be connecting 5 cages.

Yeah, seems to be enough for him. I did give him a few extra mistings over the past couple of days though as he was shedding so just to help him out a bit. ;)

His droppings are the right colour so he must be getting enough water.

Love watching him sit in the mist and lap the drops that run down his head :D
