Mesh size, gauge and type for chameleon enclosure?

Hi there, Just embarking on making some enclosures for chameleons- biggest animals will be parsons and the other will be for xantholophus. Can anyone advise on what is a good size mesh- It doesnt need to keep insects in as I hand ,forcep or cup feed, I'd like it to offer me maximum viewing, I wondered what would be suitable for the parsons feet if they climbed on it- best to go small so they just use their claws to climb or big enough for them to comfortably stick their toes through and use as a climbing frame and support their weight. Plastic coated offers more comfort? The xanth I can use a different gauge if necessary. The mesh will only form door section as other sizes will be waterproof plastic sheeting to allow for misting etc.
Would very much appreciate any opinions. Thanks :)

I would go larger mesh not smaller. If the cham gets its claw wedged it could pull it out. A larger mesh will let them free their toes more easily. Plastic coated will be easier on their feet. Galvanized wire can have sharp edges.

1/2"x1/2" pic coated wire works good. I use it for both the species you mentioned.

I third the above opinions and advise you to avoid aluminum screen, which can splinter and produce sharp frays. They have window screen made of carbon or fiberglass designed for high visibility and the mesh size is large enough to prevent claws from catching. I'm using the carbon version, since carbon will not be harmed by the heat of the bulbs and I do need to keep insects from escaping.
