Melleri Macarena!

Today was an especially warm and breezy day for November. I noticed my Mellers were pacing and generally acting very anxious and active, so i decided to pull away the blinds that were separating them so they could see one another. Well, the male Mellers just went ballistic! He is in a cage with a female on each side. I placed him on my hand and showed him each female. Well one girl would have nothing to do with him but the other, well see for yourself! Slainte' Ruth and the Chams!

not to be rude but why would you do that to the female? she looks like she was pissed and hurt herself. the male was in like rape mode. seems like putting two people in a small room and locking the door...

No, she merely dropped to another limb and the mating continued. Are you familiar with Melleri and their mating rituals and receptive versus non-receptive colors? She was receptive and hopefully we will have eggs in the near future. A non-receptive female would be nearly black with white stripes and the encounter would have be ended immediately. I was going to follow up with I don't know much about chameleon mating haha. Strange behavior. But then again mellers are very complex from what I've read

Very cool!! I dont have any experience with Melleri. Come to think about it there isnt much talk on here about them compared to the other types. They do seem awesome!!! Hope that you will keep posting videos and pics of them. Good Luck

That is AWESOME!! I have never seen Melleri in mating mode, and those flaps were just going crazy!! Thank you VERY much for sharing & educating!!
