Mean male veiled

My male has typically been a leave me alone type of cham. But after his last shed I have no clue on how I am ever going to get him to the vet or into his new cage. If I even put my hand in his cage he flares up if I don't get the hint or move to quick he hisses and lunges towards my hand. He is about six months old. Will this pass or am I going to have to take other measures.

I think if you move slow and respect him he can be manageable, but you will have to handle him to get there. Some may disagree but I believe he has to be handled in order to get him to tolerate you. He may never be happy about being handled but you should be able to get him under control and manageable.

Very well said

Have to get a good relationship with handling. Down the road you could have to hold him down and open his mouth by hand for antibiotics of something

I have found that most of the time they are not mean. They are scared, actually terrified. If you work with him slowly, eventually you can get him to trust you. I too agree with Lancaster above.

I will try anything because he seems to not like his small cage anymore he is always trying to go as high as possible and climbing all around his cage.

Have you tried getting him out by using another branch for him to step onto?
Moving slowly when approaching sometimes helps. Are you trying to put your hand around him to pick him up or letting him step onto your hand? Do you wear a glove?

I have a mean veiled too. He turned one in feburary, however, I only got him in January. I do wear gloves, but I have noticed that he is real mean when I first try to approach him. Then when I actually get him out, he settles a bit and isn't quite as mean. I still am cautious, as I do think most of the time he would bite or try to, but he does settle if he knows he didn't scare ya away. Keep working on it. He may never be one that likes to be handled, but it can be do able.

He is in a 16x16x30 cage I am getting ready to buy his final cage, this is why I am posting this question. He can "safely" climb to about six inches away from the top, unless he decides he is spiderman then which he has been doing a lot lately. I try my hardest to move as slowly as possible any time I am around him but sometimes stuff drops and I react quickly and so doesn't he. I have always tried to have him climb onto me by his own power I will not grab at him. No I do not wear a glove. I may try the stick thing though.

I got my chameleons new cage and currently trying to fill it with cover. I bought a hibiscus and it has a yellow flower does that change its safeness or is it good.

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried hand feeding? Sometimes the positive aspect of your hand giving him his food will ease his mind and he might come around.
