Anyone know if i can breed Red Rudis with regular Rudis's?
and my red rudis has a very blue chin, purple eyelids, orange-ish, yellowish shade on his body and a thick tail.
please tell me it's sexing
?!!!!

Am I not an experienced keeper? Am I not giving you answers you want to hear?

As I told you in private, these two species should not be mixed. The red rudis are still fairly rare in captivity so why muddy up the few bloodlines we do have. The die hard chameleon purists will not buy a cross-bred specimen. Period.

Please don't do it. The regular rudis are bred with some regularity so finding a nice, healthy CB male is not an issue. Same goes for the red female.

How about a picture ?

Trace is one of the most experienced Trioceros keeper in this forum. You should follow her advice.
First it's probably not possible to get normal healthy juvenils if you can mate them. Even when it's possible it's the same thing with the panther localities. Who knew if further generations will be fertile ? Nobody does. Stop this plans !

Quote from one of the three threads you are mentioning this.

That is a male for sure.
That female is gravid. 100% sure, considering my female is gravid and has EXACTLY the same colors:)
i'm currently going to attempt to breed red rudis with my regular females offspring:D

Here are the threads where he has been brought up already.

You should not do it, but clearly you plan to regardless of what very experienced keepers are saying. You state it yourself above. "You are going to attempt"

I am not sure what you are looking for. Justification? Just one person to tell you its OK. I do not believe you will get that here.

I agree with everyone else , it should not be done.

Red Rudis

Yes you are from what I hear Trace, im not saying I think your incorrect or anything. and okay Ryan.
My Red is CB so I know theres no issues with his health or bloodline. But is its that dangerous then I wont risk breeding the two species, ill strictly keep it regular Rudis breeding with regular:) and reds with reds:)
But a couple more questions. What did you mean Trace, when you privately said there are some F2's available?
And im not too sure what my red's sex is..please help.

Are the two infact the same species but different localities, or one is a subspecies?
I know nothing about them you understand, just curious. I have no opinion on the matter at all.

Maybe my eyes are too bad (I wear contact lenses)...On this picture nobody could see anything, it's just too small for normal human eyes

I believe their a different locale..

I'm quite sure that they are minimum subspecies, probably different species. The hole bitaeniatus complex should be revised.
@anilr: sorry but with this picture I couldn't help you

I believe them to be different sub-species and thus can not be bred. When you compare the two they are drastically different in size, casque shape, dorsal spines and even down to head scale counts. Unfortunately I don't have the scientific documentation or education to prove this. I'm still waiting for the new bitaeniatus species breakdown paper. Anyone know when and if this has come out?

Trace

P.S. You have a red male Anil

Red

Thank ya so much Trace for the clarification!
What does F2 mean?
And I cant seem to find any female red rudis anywhere.
And if I raise the baby Rudis together will they possibly get along in a spacious cage in their adulthood??

F1 are the juvenils of WC animals and F2 are the juvenils of F1 parents.
It's the second generation after the caught of the animals.
Look at kingsnake, maybe sb offers some there. If you can house them together depends on the space you gave them and the number of males. Females are normally not as territorial as males

Thank you so much!!!
and i was planning to keep maybee one male and a couple females. if i plan on that.
how big should a cage be? and wha ratio of males/females should i keep in there???

The best solution here are self made cages. For example 100cm x 60cm x 100 cm (in inches it's about 40 x 25 x 40 ) for a 1.3 group. In cages which are bigger than one cubic metre probably 2.x groups are possible. But there need to be lots of plants in the cages that the animals don't see each other the hole time
