Mantis?

So I caught a mantis on the photo from the insect list it says there safe…. I won’t feed this one to Yoshi tho bc it’s really big but you can just feed them to chameleons? Will the “bite” (with claws 😂) them or will the big wings hurt them

Tongs are bad... Use them to get the feeders out of your bins if you do not want to touch them but do not use them when offering a feeder to the cham. Good way to cause permanent damage to the chams tongue.

Ok- I have been doing this for almost 20 years with no problem. But, to be safe, I would remove their front arms since there is a possibility of damage. I think this is why chameleons always try to chew on the head of things a quick kill.

That being said--- I do not remove the arms and fed my one eye, Saul a full grown one just 3 days ago with no issues (I should follow my gut).
I think the mantis from Yemen and Africa are much bigger,(know from google they are) so figure why not. Weird way of thinking....

Plus, you might get the experience of the mantis doing its wing defense display.

So I should try it😀 here’s a pic of the mantis…. The mantis isn’t as wide as the width of yoshis eyes but he is about as long as my index finger which is about 2 and a half inches

If it makes ya feel better I will go find one and feed first so you can see. I live for this stuff.
Your chameleon will eat, look at it or move away.

I figured that so went looking and found male and female, so you will have to wait a little for me to get everyone ready and get some pictures.. Thanks!

Opps! What kind with determine the size.. Our local ones get about 3 to 4 inches. Male on the left and female on the right. Male has 8 segments on abdomen while the female only has 6. Usually the males wings are longer so trying to find out why this ones wings are so small--- What I recall is that once they get their wings in they no longer shed and grow it is reproduction time-- so might learn some new things today..

UPDATE! It is only 66 outside it will get to 94 but to early for them to eat.. Tried it but no interest this early... Sorry! But will update later today. (y)
