Male veiled ribs

I just got to pet my Cham without gloves, ya. Anyway, he was on my arm, sitting hunched like they do. When I was running my fingers down the sides, from head to tail I could feel his ribs. Is this normal? I can't see his ribs. I'm concerned because he hasn't eaten much. He's been shedding and I finally got him to eat a hornworm yesterday, but he won't touch the crickets he has had every day for about a week now. The person I got him from said he is a very good eater. When I got him, he ate really good for about a week or so. Now, not so much, but has been shedding the whole time he hasn't eaten good. Should I be worried or is this pretty normal? He is 1 year this month and I got him January 3rd. Also, it seems the time he hasn't eaten good, along with the shedding, I let him free range one day. Every since then, he wants out all the time, can't blame him, but hasn't eaten good since either.

I don't think I've ever run my fingers down my boys side. It's something they don't tend to like very much as far as I'm aware. I expect I could feel his ribs though. .......I can defo feel my own ribs if I try on me......From what you say in the post I can see nothing to be concerned about at all. If you wanna fill the whole form out I might think of something to say......:D

Well, the food part, about not eating. Well he has just taken care of that. The crickets are now gone and he ate three hornworms. His appetite is back. Is it bad though that he eats later in the day? It's 6:42p.m. here. I did notice him eat later in the day one other time.

How am I now even less concerned about him but I have some advice to offer . I am a bit dazed and confused right now......I sometimes feed in the early afternoon, but anything that is left I take out by about 5pm. There's always tomorrow if he hasn't eaten it.

It's not really very important. The occasional eating in the early evening won't harm any healthy cham at all.......but it's what people on the forum tend to recommend. It makes sense because he needs to bask so he can heat up to digest. It doesn't make sense because it will do no harm in his stomach overnight if he doesn't go much below 60F. This post probably didn't help at all. I need sleep.....want to get to 5000 posts before bed now though that would amuse me :)

Hey Barb where in Chicago are you from? I am also from Chicago ! I dont have a veiled cham I have a panther but maybe I can throw some help your way or even look at the little guy for you if you have an questions or concerns !

I am near Wrigleyville. Where abouts are you?
I guess between the shedding and the trying to figure out all day how to get out, he just doesn't stop to eat much. He can bask until lights out at 8 so, I don't think there is really anything to worry about with that. I do though leave his food in his cage all day. The crickets too and they will have food in with them, so they should be gut loaded all day. I guess I jumped the gun too soon. For now anyway, I guess I don't really have anything too worry about:D
Here is my not so little, little guy, LOL he's big. To us anyway, he's big:)

Are you still awake? Ya, your thread kinda confusing, but that's okay. I did get something out of it and I am not so concerned anymore. Get to posting so you can get your sleep:D

WTF is that pic? Am I going blind now too? Or is that the Loch Ness Monster? :D

I found her I found her, except hers a him:p People think Nessy is fake, nope I have her/him. Actually I have Houdini. He waits until I am not looking to make his escape out of his cage. The dirty bugger. So I named him Houdini.

David it is the Lochness hahahahaha or should we call it Nessi !?!?!!? haha And Barb im in Arlington Heights right up 90 by Woodfield mall.

Have you ever gone to the Scotts all animal expo in Wheaton? It's every first Saturday and third Sunday. I haven't yet. Trying to find out if its a good place to go or not. Looking to try and buy a very small number of dubia roaches. I don't want the minimum amount until I know my Cham will eat them.
