Looking for New SBCK Meeting Locations

Howdy SBCK members,

The downtown meeting location was great while it lasted :). The bldg. management kindly notified us that our temporary use of the lobby for our meetings was up and it was time to move on .

While there is a potential back-up plan, I thought that now would be a good time to see if anyone has suggestions for new meeting locations. By the way, restaurants are usually a bad idea. They seem to be sensitve to the presence of feeder insects .

PM me with your suggestions :).

while I'm not in california, maybe you could hit up some local colleges. I know my school (Texas Tech University) allows meetings in the sub. I don't know about outside organizations, but I do know it's free if a student wants to host something.

I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility. Maybe at USC or something they have conference rooms you can meet in. Especially if you talk about how you will be discussing feeding / parasites / etc. (something educational) they should let you meet there.

That's a good idea. I know CSUN has a herpetology department and they have offered our herp society a free meeting location. The only issue seems to be the parking. But I don't think we mind a little bit of walking. CSUN wouldn't work for us because it's too far north, but we should definitely consider colleges.

Anyone have any leads yet? It's getting warmer, we could start meeting on the sand at the beach:D

Howdy,

It looks like we're all set to have the next meeting at Nathan's work location. It's the place that we were able to use a couple of times back in the October/November timeframe. I'll post the formal invite for the Tuesday, March 31st meeting this weekend.

2001 S Barrington Ave.
Suite 201
Los Angeles, CA 90025

Why Tuesday nights? Mostly because one of our previous sites (the Toyota Museum) required us to book the date and time far in advance.

Just wondering... is there a specific reason why it has to be on tuesday night?

Glad we found a new location, but if we could put the day of the week up for debate, I would be fine with that. Tuesday is slightly inconvenient for myself, but it's only one day of the month, so it's not that bad to me.

Looking forward to the next meeting.
