I am in the market for live plants for my chameleon too nibble on and climb around. I have a ton of Bamboo that isn't in the wild. I have had it since it was a baby. Is bamboo ok for Chams?
I'm bumping this for you because I am a little curious about this too. I have a miniature sheflera (spelling is not my fortay) that I am planning on using for my cham. I have also seen people using pothos (ivy) and I know that hibiscus are edible and safe for them.
My question to everyone about the hibiscus is, are all of them safe? I have a couple of exotic varieties from Hawaii and wanted to make sure they are as safe as the ones you can buy from a garden center? Also, what about little aphids and things that get on the plants? Do you just rinse them off or what? I am a huge worrier of pesticides because I have a very bug friendly backyard since the monarchs visit me twice a year. Thanks for replying!
This will tell you every plant you would need to know... Most of these lists go off of plant lists for mammals and thats what they base their lists off of so if its safe for mammals and its on this list then VOILA you have a safe plant... Hope this helps... Personally I stay away from hibiscus after my indoor hibiscus disaster where the constant water bred MILLIONS of aphids that morphed into gnats INSIDE my house and generally there seems to be a lot of that problem going around when you bring hibiscus inside... I like a simple pothos and hibiscus... Ficus are good too but the sap will damage a chams eyes so keep it away from trimming and the leaves tend to vacate pretty easy Again hope that helps
