UVB-Baskin’ Rango

For a few days after I put a bamboo bridge in Rango (my veiled)’s cage, he avoided the general area. I had hoped to use it with the intent of helping his claws dull out a bit.

He seems to have explored the bamboo out of curiosity while I was away today. Look at his basking stance! 😂

Sweet handsome fella. 💗 He may not like the bamboo as it is quite slick and slippery, especially if it gets wet. Usually we advise against the little bridges and ropes as it can entrap claws and pull them out. However, in Rango’s case I do see that a bridge can be very helpful for him. I would suggest modifying it though with a soft bendable vine running across it, or even if you can weave one through the gaps between the bamboo. Just to give him some extra grip and reduce risks to claws. For the slipperiness of the bamboo, you can lightly sand the finish.

I did notice the shine on it! I thought it was a bit suspicious, but I wasn’t sure. I’ll definitely sand it a bit and give it a bendy-branch, since this is his favorite basking spot and I want him to enjoy it to the fullest. 💚

My chams also use these bird ladders. 💕

Just don't get the color ones, I've read the dye they use can leak with the moisture and stain your chams feet.

Rango looks like he's living his best life with you!
