If I bring in some wood from outside or rocks for decor from outside how can I make them safe for my reptiles enclosures? I heard baking them in the oven wrapped in tinfoil for half an hour at 180degrees or something. But problem is, else where I read this wont be hot enough :( So i'm quite lost..could somebody please help. thanks

Hey i found some luck soaking the logs/sticks in a bathtub with a few capfulls of bleach let them soak for about 24 hrs then sun dry them for another 24 hr that should do that trick and dont forget to cut/wash off any bark.

what i do is strip the bark, give it a bath in water with some bleach, put it in the oven at 350 for an hour, and let it cool off sitting in the sun.

You could just boil the rocks for 15 min, and let cool, the tree stumps are little more tricky but i would think if you soak in the bleach solution for a couple of hours to get good penetration would be fine....after the soak let dry in sun for a couple of days. the bleach should evaporated off...if you do put rocks in the oven, just becareful...if they get too hot some rocks can explode with the dry heat....

HOpe that helps

Good luck

wash in tub at in super hot water. Then i take them into the oven at 300 degrees for about 15 min. Rocks you could do the same but i think they would offer alot of hiding places for insects to crawl under unless your cupping.

i got river drift sticks that the bark has soaked off already. i sanded them down to remove and alge or whatever. i then bleach bathed and sun dried for 24 hours, and then placed them in the cage. works out great and the chams love the natural wood.
