I'm getting my Rudis probably this weekend. I know I need a reptisun 5.0, but what kind do I need for basking?

A standard household incandescent of sufficient wattage for your chams needs will do. (note: not the powersaver kind, these dont put out enough heat to be useful for thermoregulation) :)

I use soft-white incandescent 57 watt bulbs for my rudis and carpet and both lamps are elevated about ~7 inches off the top of the cage. Do not purchase any of those pet brand bulbs, they burn out really fast. Also realize that you really do not need very much heat at all for rudis chameleons. I only use a heat bulb to protect against possible temperature shocks. Here is a great source for finding information on rudis chameleons http://www.rockymountainrudis.com/rudis/care/care_index.htm. I also wrote a small, quick-reference blog on how to care for rudis, https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/cushcameleon/150-raising-carpet-rudis-chameleons.html. I use the same care techniques for both my rudis and carpet; they are in identical setups. Good luck with your rudis! It was my very first chameleon.

Thanks so much for these links. I would have had him way too hot. I can't wait to get him -- maybe tonight!
