Lighting question....

I put this in the health since I was concerned the lighting might directly effect my chams health.

We recently moved Brody's enclosure into our reptile room. She was in my bedroom on my dresser away from any windows. She is now in our reptile room directly in front of a window.

Here is what I am wondering. I live in Florida and it is pretty bright here most days. It is also pretty warm. Is it maybe a bad idea to have her there? She gets direct sunlight (through the window). Is it too bright maybe? Do I still need the reptisun bulb?

Thanks in advance. :)

If its through glass you still need the bulb. UVB is filtered out by the glass.

Just monitor the temps and you would be fine to leave him there. Make sure there is a place to escape the sun that is shaded.

When you can open the window and allow the unfiltered light in. It is really good for them.

Cool thank you. :)

Through the window your cham can get the UVA needed but in order for UVB to pass through a window you have to special order it im not sure what it is called, but my parents did it so the house plants would get enough UVB.

On the other hand i just saw on here the other day, someone was saying plants live off of a different type of UVB than a chameleon would need. So special ordering a window to allow the UVB through, still may not be adequate for a cham. A good question though...
