Lighting on or off

I am getting my chameleon tomorrow and I'm not sure what to do about the lighting. I have one light and a spot lamp. The question I am asking is do I turn both lights off during night???? won't he get too cold????

they need cooler temps and no light(at night)...if you live in a cold place(and your house gets really cold), you could get a ceramic heating element. but do NOT leave the lights on all the time.

EDIT: temps in the 60's is perfectly fine; the 50's should be okay as well, but if it gets below the low 50's you should get the heating element(and do NOT put it inside the cage).

Leave the UVB and heat on during the day, and turn them off when you go to bed. Simple as that.

Two lights, on during day, off during night. That's all you need to know.

I always recommend getting a timer meaning no matter what both the UV and heat bulb goes on and off at exactly the same time every day. Chameleons are very much creatures of habit and like to stick to a routine. Makes life easier too.
