Lighting and Heating

I just use a normal 60 watt household bulb and it keeps the temps perfect. I started off using expensive special 'basking' bulbs but they kept burning out fast so I decided not to waste the $ on them.

I had a 60W heat bulb that came with my package deal, but it turned out to be too hot for the size of my enclosure, so i swapped it out for a 40 W household bulb and its working awesome. I might switch back to the heat bulb though because its going to be winter soon and my guy is a lil older so he may like hotter temps now

Yea i'm using the "Basking Bulbs" and they're a pain in the arse, always burning out. Are you suggesting i can get by with just a normal traditional house light?

Yup....buy different wattages until you find the one that matches the temps you need....I use a 100 watt to get a 90 degree basking area for my male vield....I live in Ohio in USA....so that's just an example...most people just use incandescent bulbs....cheap...easy to replace.
