Las Vegas summers

Is it just plain out impossible to house my veiled and panthers outdoors in this Las Vegas summer weather? I know most days I can't keep them out all the time this summer but I'd like to be able to successfully keep them out when temps are between 85-100(hoping one day during summer it would actually drop down to atleast 89 degrees  ). I read on here, I think it was on the photography forums, that someone had their montane species out in 95 degree weather with no problem so you'd think that a panther and a veiled could be outside in 100 degree weather with no problem. Obviously with tons and tons of mistings and drippers set up etc. Today it will be 100 and yesterday it was 93degrees and I had each and every chameleon outside yesterday with no problem. So who out there houses chams outdoors in summer when temps can get extremely hot? Anyone in Vegas that houses outdoors?

Btw I know to put them back inside when I'm away from home but since its summer, I'm going to be home most of the time and this is the only time I'll have my chams outside in this weather so I can keep a close eye on them.

mine are outside thru summer, theres days i will bring them in, like if it tops 110 an let me say i have patio misters going full blast the whole time so when its 100-110 temp out under my open wood slatted patio its 80-90. this is also with me home an constantly checkin on them an deciding when an if to bring them inside. "never leave them in the heat when you are not there to be checkin on them" i have seen threads where timed misting systems have failed with bad losses in case some think it doesnt happen.
this is panthers an veileds, other cooler species i would never have out over 90 with patio misters goin constant, works for me.

I'm not in Vegas but I have my panthers and veild outside I even had one of my melleri rescue outside yesterday and it was 99 degrees. Today will be triple digits so I brought the melleri inside.

I keep them misted and have a soaker hose across the top of their cages so 1/2 the cage has rain they can move in and out of. I also keep them out of the afternoon sun and they have alot of shade. I use a tarp to provide extra shade when needed. I stay home during the hot part of the day so I can monitor them.

The only way you know if you can is to try it. I know you use common sense and wouldnt endanger your chameleons. Water and shade go a long way!

Thanks for the replies! I have them in an area that probably only gets about 1 hour of direct sunlight in the early morning and in the afternoon they get no sun at all. I need to get a Patio mister along with my mist king, does home depot carry any or do you know where I could by a system? I could definitely use a hose and soak the cages when the temps start to peak.

i agree with Jessica, try it. But when you do, make sure you are there to keep monitoring the situation or I wouldn't even chance it if you had to go to work all day. It is brutally hot and humid here in florida but my panther fares very well outside. i usally get him out around 8:30 or so for a few hours of sun and then he comes in on my house for awhile. I put him back out on my patio for some free range, but I find the patio to be way hotter then the cage that is sitting in the sun. If I see him gaping, I immediately bring him in.

I take two montane species outside during the summer, primarily in the morning or early evening. I keep them under constant supervision, misting heavily to keep them cool. They love the sun, but after some time they gape and retreat into the shade of the plants, which I think is there way of saying "OK! Too hot! Take me back inside!" :p. Monitor their behavior and it should be fine.

For the patio mister i used the pvc ones from home depot an ran it around the outside of the patio i have a big patio so not only around the patio but down the middle of it to that one is on a valve to shut off to just have the outside area one on.the timed regular mister goes at its reg times so cages arnt water logged. let me add havin the misters on the edge of patio sprayin down it not only cools the patio but keeps flys seekin shade from the heat away. my patio is wood slats as a roof so enough sun an shade come thru.

You can buy a mist hose that hooks up to your spicket at home depot for 15 bucks. I just use a soaker hose and I mist them with my hose alot.

Your just gonna have to play with it until its right for your chameleons (yay chameleon projects!)

Ok thanks for the help everyone :). Lots and lots of misting along with plenty of shade. And I love chameleon projects! I'll go ahead and run to home depot and find me a patio mister.

I just looked at how hot the ambient temp is at the bottom of the cages and they range from 69-96 between mistings and when the cages are dry. Under direct sunlight it gets as hot as 102.

it gets pretty hot here in NC along with crazy humidity, i usually set mine out in the shade and i have a regular garden sprinkler with adjustable spray functions...one of them is a wide spray which is perfect for covering 4 cages

We lasted this hot weather without them even getting so warm that their colors looked like they were washed out. They stayed in the middle of each of their potted plants where I read that it was usually in the 70's in the middle of each plant.

This is one way I use to have my chams outside.....most of these cages have montanes in them.

The tarp in the background had the patio misting hooked up. That was hooked up to a timer at the water faucet. Got the misting from Amazon.com. Had 40 nozzles and was 30ft long. Cost 25 bucks. Timer was 20 bucks.
The hose just has one of those selector nozzles on it.
I used the hose to hydrate WC Chams when I got them in. It put out huge amounts of water and did a great job......both hose nozzle and mister systerm lowered temps down roughly 20 degs.
