Hey all.I don't know of I should be concerned.I have a 6 month old male veiled and he hasn't shed yet while in my care.I have him about 6 weeks now.he is well hydrated and eats loads.he has grown noticeably in the 6 weeks too.I had read they shed roughly once a month.is he just a slow grower or can there be other reasons

Maybe you missed it :) I wouldnt worry yourself over him shedding. When it is time he will get it done. ;)

Thanks I didn't think it'd be much to worry about.it just seemed everybody else was posting about shedding more regularly.I suppose I could have missed it.I'm away 11 hours a day with work.if I had missed it would I not find shed skin in the cage

you know, you would find the shed in the cage if he did. my cham is about 4 months and he sheds about every three weeks. as they get older, the time between shed does increase, but maybe one of the more experienced keepers will chime in?

Yea I'm not too worried he could have been just after shedding when I got him.he has grown a good bit so id say there's one on the way.I bet hell shed now after I posted.it seems at times he knows what I'm asking on the forums and sorts it out himself :)

When my last female was a baby she shed every month until she got to 6 months old. She then only shed every 3 months like my previous adult female had. They may also shed one body part at a time too as they get older and this can make it seem like they are always in shed! My 15 month old Jackson just recently shed - his back and half way down his sides, tail and one back foot in one week which he then followed by the rest of him shedding a week later a week later! I don't think he shed his front legs at all though this time!

Fred started shedding today I'm actually delighted.I know that its no harm if he doesn't shed often hel do it when he needs it but its his first one since I've had him.so at least I know he's doing everything as normal

I wouldn't worry too much. Some chams actually eat the sheddings. My female Nosy Be eats hers and my male doesn't.

9 weeks? That does seem like a long time....I wonder if he will eat it.......keep us updated :)

Don't want to scare you, but I understood that if chameleons don't shed for long time periods, it could be an indication of something being wrong with it's skin, like some infection etc...

hes shedding now anyway.doesnt seem to be eating it either ive just spent 20 mins picking out all the little bits of skin.he still has a bit to go.hes loving the misting now too.does anyone else find it hard to resist pulling off the skin thats hanging off
