Kinyongia Chameleon Question (w/ pics)

Yes, 9-12 crickets per day is too much. Even if she is gravid and adding egg weight, I wouldn't feed her that much.

Oh, by the way, my vote is that she's a she...but you guys knew that when I first asked for more pics.

For others out there reading about Fischer's or any Kinyongia, be very careful about not feeding too much! All chameleons are opportunistic feeders meaning they use MOST opportunities to eat eat eat because they don't know when the next meal may be. In captivity, food is plentiful and fairly consistent but they still do not adjust their INNATE behaviors. In my humble opinion, and Seeco could give you a better opinion, I would only offer her 4-6 crickets every other day or even once every 3 days. I hope this is helpful!

Whaaa :O really?! I guess I can't help but to try to feed her as much as I can (seeing how her ribs are kind of sticking out). But isn't she still very young though?

For starters, we don't know what size crickets starsnowxx is feeding the cham.
CNorton must have missed Seeco's post, since he says to see what Seeco says.
Seeco's recommendation is:

Feed the crickets some moist veggies and fruit but not broccoli or spinach. Let them eat it overnight. Then feed your chameleon as many of these crickets as it will possibly eat.

I would think his recommendation is based on the fact that she/he looks rather young and is also thin.
Maybe some or even most chams will eat like pigs, but my Jackson's xantho does not.
He will only eat on days that he is hungry.
Generally, he will not eat on 2 consecutive days.
Seeco can probably give one of the best estimates of age, since he breeds K. multis.

I am looking forward to see how this animal looks after some time under your care. Like after a shed in particular. Sometimes when these Kinyongia get roughed up a bit it is like their chromatophores get damaged and they just turn olive. When you look at that sleeping pic it looks really nice though.

So, no call on the sex but I will say this -- If it is a female, wow nice horns. If it is a male, well, just keep eating buddy!

Here is my pair. Mr. Fisher is a bachelor as I lost Mrs. Fisher earlier this year, she kept laying clutch after cluth despite controlled feeding.

And Mr. Fisher is the worst eater of my crew. I can put 5 crickets in his cage and he will take days to eat them.

Julirs, did you know that Seeco has some captive bred K. multis?
Having lost my wc adult male , I just couldn't resist getting 2 adorable little guys from Seeco.
They're growing like weeds and eating like pigs!
Between their horns, incredibly long tails and their personalities, I'm hooked on the K. multis.---though I think I just love montanes, in general.

^-- Lol, I'll just assume Egi's a female for now. I've been feeding her around 10 1/2" crickets every day. And Egi hunts every single one of them down! I tried to put some superworm in a feeding cup for her, but she just won't eat them! Goodness, I wanna put more variety in her diet with some worms but she just doesn't want them T_T the only time I saw her eat them was when I first introduced some mealworms. After that... nada... I guess she has an acquired taste?

If she's around 7 months old, will she (if she IS a she) need a pot of soil? Should I prepare one for her, just in case?

Anyways, I was cleaning her cage this morning and managed to take some pictures! I placed her on one of the plastic leaves w/ the suction cup and put her against my bedroom window. Here's an update ;]

Thanks! That's actually the first time I've seen that pattern coloration on her. Lol, there's a lot of "firsts" for me with this little guy! I'm wondering if she's mad or content though ._.

Does its poop look normal?

Just as a standard precaution you MAYBE should contact a vet about performing a fecal analysis. Sometimes they want you to come in for an appt and then come back in again with the poop but try to talk to the office about just coming in with some fresh poop and doing it all in one shot.
