Hi everyone,
I've been doing alot of research on this forum and other sites and fell that I have a good understanding of how to setup the habit, but still have a few questions about feeding.

Cham:
Juvenile Veiled
3 inch long body showing alot of color already.
Male (has spurs on back feet)

Enclosure: (Setting up tonite and tomorrow)
Repti-Breeze 36"x18"x18"
18" Repti-Sun 5.0UVB Floro
75W white basking
live plants (3-4)
non-toxic fake vines
bamboo sticks
Bottom covering
I will have a thermometer hi and low and a hygrometer in the middle
Repti-Fogger Humidifier....not sure where to mount the hose output in the enclosure
Still working on a drip system.

Feeding:
This is what I'm a bit lost on. I understand that there are a few different worms to feed and crickets. Gutloading is neccesary with non-phosphorus calcium powder dusting. Please help me with this.

I am moving in a month and was hoping to wait until after the move to get my cham, but I went to see him at the pet store yesterday and he seemed to be very stressed and defensive. I just want to get him out of the pet store environment. Nothing against the pet store (Critter Cabana, Willamette Valley, OR), I have been going to them for years and they have always been knowledgeable and high quality. Their store just has alot of traffic and my cham is in a cage with another 6 juveniles because they were all rescues.

I have had aquariums and snakes so i understand the time a care needed, just need some details on chams.

Again Thanks for all the help. I am very excited to get the little guy and will get pictures of him and his house up once I have him home. From what I've seen online, he has some awesome coloring for a Veiled. :D

75W white basking For a baby you can go cooler, I would suggest a 50-60 watt. THey like temps between 75-85 (but 85 can push it with some)
live plants (3-4) What kind?
non-toxic fake vines
bamboo sticks
Bottom covering  None or use paper towels for easy cleaning)
I will have a thermometer hi and low and a hygrometer in the middle

Crickets and dubia roaches are daily feeders. All other worms are treats not to be fed daily.I dont know about gut loading the roaches, but the crickets can be gutloaded with apples, oranges, potatoes, mustard greens, dandilion leaves, bee pollen, carrots.
You dont gutload with the powder (that im aware of)
Your cham gets 3 supplements. calcium w.o d3 and phosphorus every feeding. Calcium with d3 2 times a month, and a multivitamin 2 times a month. THese 3 are all powders, you get your cricekts, put them in a baggie, then dust the crickets LIGHTLY with one of these substances. the crickets should be light grey, not white.
The feeder food should be no longer than the space between your chams eyes. at your chams age, pinheads are great, and you feed him as many as he will eat.

Thanks, I'll be sure to get a lower what bulb and watch the temperatures. The plants are a hibiscus, pothos, asparagus fern, and something else i can't remember at the moment, but they are all safe for chams; I made sure of that.

Another question: How long should i wait to try to handle him after i get him home?

Give him some time to relax, a few days. Then see how he does. Put your hand or finger under him and then gently encourage him to get on you. if he freaks, give him more time.

So its day three with him now and he seems to be doing great. He is very active and no longer runs away from me. I got all the dirt off the bottom and he is no longer interested in the paper towel. He has been eating about 6 crikets and 3 mealworms a day. I will be able to figure out a routine for him starting today and the next couple days...the last two days I had 12 hour shifts :( Im misting morning and night and there is a Reptibreeze humidifier running in the corner all the time. The humidity stays around 65-75%. The humidifier does not soak the whole enclosure, most stays dry.

For my suplements Im doing about 50% of the food dusted with calcium each time, calcium w/D3 on the 1st and 15th of each month and the multi-vitamin the 5th and 25th of each month....good planning or should I do it 3 time per week?

I will try to get pictures of Banzai and his enclosure tomorrow.

wow, I am impressed with how much you have it together!
kudos to you :p
everything seems well in order, and Im not a veiled owner, just panthers. but even I can see you are doing well!.

enjoy your little guy, the biggest requirement here is...pictures, pictures, and more pictures!!

and a name!
anne

maybe dust all the feeders, very lightly, with your cal no d/3 daily?

His name is now Banzai, like the awesome burger at Red Robin :p
I'm working on getting some pictures up right now.

Here's a picture of Banzai and his home. It's 36"x18"x18" with a Dracaena Massagena being the largest plant and a smaller Hibiscus, Umbrella Plant, Pothos, and Aspauragus Fern. The basket looking things are Tiki Torch holders made of Bamboo that I cut shorter to hold some plants up higher. There's also sticks and vine throughout as bridges.
Let me know what you think :D

This was the only way i could figure out how to get pics up...

Well shoot if someone could explain how to upload pictures that would be awesome...i feel like a total idiot right now

basically what you need to do is upload the pic(s) and copy the image url then when you go to post simply click the little icon with mountains and paste the url there.

tada!

i use tinypic usually for forums, but you could use anything.
