Just a few questions....

I am looking to buy my new guy from a breeder online.... has anyone ever heard of them/bought from them....

http://www.chameleonsonly.com/

The bottom of their pictures say kammerflage creations, and I have heard that name around here alot, but I wanted to be sure that it is the same people. I am kind of leery about sending people large ammounts of my money over the internet... I have been really burned before :(

I tried calling them 2 days ago, and left a detailed message but no one ever got back to me....

Also, how often do you guys handle your chameleons... I have seen so many pictures of people holding them, but my fiance says you are only supposed to hold them very very rarely because it stresses them out... I know it has alot to do with personality as well, but on average with a mild tempered animal, what is the suggestion on handling???

These questions may be kind of rudimentary, but I just want to be sure :D

Thanks guys!

i've heard that they are having bad computer troubles. the kammers are great people, and they sell quality animals. i highly suggest buying from them.

Hi Rachael,

Your husband is right. I rarely hold mine. Only to inspect, medicate or move them. There is no snuggling of the chameleons in this house...that's what my dogs and horses are for :)

I help keep their (the chameleons) stress level down, they are very stressful creatures...everything is a potentially going to eat them.

But I can watch mine for hours...

^ LOL i know not cuddling them, i dont mean dressing them up in doll clothes (even though they would look SO cute) ;) I was just meaning the occasional, take him out, look at him, make sure everything is okay, take him outside to be in the sun for a little, kind of handling.... :D

Hey Rachel, just wanted to let you know I just got my blue bar ambi from the Kammers last week here in Indiana. They do this as a actuall living so they are the hardest people to get a hold of because they ship around the world all the time. I will tell you when I did get a hold of them, Liddy Kammer was such a delight to do buisness with. I would say the best way would be to call in the evenings. Thats the best time I could get a hold of her. I couldnt be happier with my little guy I got from them. I would for sure recomend them to you.

Good.... I am very glad to hear the positive feed back... I am sure this will help put my fiance's mind at ease!

Thank you so much everyone!

Why don't you buy from one of the members here on the forums? Have you check out the classifieds? Jann

Ive never purchased a chameleon from them but did get a couple of ficus plants and they came looking great and full of leaves, Packaged good but one of the plastic pots was cracked but I credit that to rough shipping handlers.

I would also look into FL Chams, they're very reputable, and much much closer to you(which should = less stress from shipping).

I actually just spoke with Liddy from chameleonsonly.com

She is a really awesome person!

They sell a comination package with the chameleon that comes with almost everything! Its not that expensive at all... I am thinking it would be less expensive to order from them, then try and piece together everything else that would come with it!

I am gonna do a little more research.....

Unless you are already eye-ing a particular chameleon's off springs from Kammers, I highly recommend FLchams and other florida based breeders.
They are closer to your place; Perhaps, some might actually allow you to do local pick up.
and as far as combo piece, it is quite convenient to just buy everything bulk.

But, I can testify that buying separately can be cheaper as long as you know where to buy.

cages and lighting supplies from lllreptile.com are very affordable.
plants ($8 vs $19.99) and fixtures ($8 vs $48) are affordable at wal mart, lowes, home depot.
I bought 3 feet tall bushy hibiscus for 8 dollars at my local nursery (big sale going on at that time).
The ficus and umbrellas were sold $1.50 each for 12 inches tall- in fact, I remember posting the thread here to share the news for my local cham keeper friends.

timer, buckets, etc you can buy at target and 99c store.

We just met Mike and his crew (FLCHAMS)at the Repticon Reptile show in Orlando today, and they are AWESOME!!!! I would highly recommend them and they are really close to u so way less stress, u could probably take a short road trip and pick it up yourself and not have to worry about any disgruntled post office person being "funny" by throwing every package that says fradgile!! (Trust me this happens more often than u think!! I know a couple of people in the biz), or u could take a last minute "road trip" to the reptile show tomarrow in Orlando- It was an amazing experience!! Have u researched a exotic vet in your area yet? Good to know of one nearby!! Either way, looks like u are doing a good job with your research!! Good luck! Keep us posted!!:D

I think FLCHAMS may even be out of Tampa (somebody please correct me if I am wrong!!) which I believe is really close to u right?

I bought a cham from the Krammers over a year ago, they were great, the cham arrived here (Montana) with no problems. I can't say enough good things about them. I just don't think you could go wrong and if there were a problem, I have heard from friends it is corrected ASAP. We need pictures you you get your cham.:)
