Ecto-Parasites among cb chameleons are, to my knowledge, almost unheard of. As I understand it, the kind of subcutaneous parasites that would cause a lump, and be disease causing, would most regularly be filarial worms (nematoda), and be from wild-caught stock, as the relevant nematodes do not occur naturally in North America. And while I’ve heard that certain, so-called, “lost” parasites can encyst subcutaneously, I have also heard that such aberrant cases are often left in place by vets, as they are unlikely to cause disease. I am not a vet, a scientist, or a specialist in any way, so please take what I’ve regurgitated with a grain of salt.
