"Foliage" simply means "leafy"; places will sometimes sell things with descriptors such as "foliage plants" which, unfortunately, don't really convey any more info than "flowering plant" (which is everything from oak trees to onions to deadly nightshade) or "four-legged beast".
A picture will help.

Is there a tag with the plant? Does it say ficus or scheffla on it or does it look like a palm tree?

Yes, photos would help us to help you.

Palms (all of them) are cham safe...heck palm hearts are a delicacy.

My only complaint about the majesty palms are they are rather week and once your cham gets some girth to him, he will be snapping the palms left an right. Cat Palms IMO work better. Their palms are much stronger. Both require a fair amount of light and watering. You don't want to them sitting in a muddy mess 24/7 but you do want to water them daily. This isn't a problem because of mistings. But do make sure you replant it with a layer of rock in the bottom of the pot. This helps with drainage.

For light, I suggest nothing less than 2 18 inch floros. One for UVB and one 6500K for the plant. But both should provide the light needed for these palms.

all i m going off of is the google image i got, cuz i dont know exactly what a majesty palm is, but i know all of the palm trees ive ever encountered had rough semi sharp edges to their fronds and nost of them end in spikes. That would be a HORRIBLE idea if thats what they are like

I think you might be thinking about a plant like the Vietnamese spike plant. (not sure of the real name) but palms aren't strong enough to cause any puncture wounds. And as far as the sharp edges...I would only guess that to be a problem if you have a cham that likes to use the fonds like a fireman's pole. :D. Seriously Myself and plenty others have used these palms without any problems.

If the tip of the palms being pointy bothers you that much, you can just trim the sharp point off. The palm plant will be fine after trimming.
