Hello, I am new on having a chameleon. After looking at videos, I started to to think my chameleon can be getting overweight. What should I do? How long should I stop feeding her for? Do you think she’s overweight?

Lately I have been feeding her 5 crickets a day! I sometimes feed her two superworms and 1 crickets. I have not tried dubia roaches yet. I have tried to feed her a hornworm but she released it back, seemed like she did not like it.

Here’s a great video on how to make a laying bin. I would make one ASAP. If she doesn’t have a proper place to lay her eggs, she could become egg bound.

She doesn’t look overweight, but take the advice of getting a lay bin set up asap. It’s best to keep a lay bin permanently in her enclosure to save the stress and guessing of when she may need it. I feed all of my ladies/chams about 3-4 feeders, three days a week. It not only helps avoid obesity, but along with a lower basking temp of 80F, helps reduce egg production in my ladies.

Hi and welcome. I have a female panther that coyld be her twin. Mine takes a few days to lay her eggs. Very important, do not interupt her during her egg laying or she can become egg bound. she will stop eating two to four days pruir to laying which is youR signal to cover the cage to give her privacy. a sheet or newspaper will do. Then leave her be. Once she resumes eating you can find and remove the eggs. Unless she has been mated, they will be infertile. Like a chicken. I wouldnt change eating habits now while she is close to laying. Make sure she is getting calcium without d3 daily! you can make eating changes after thus ckutch of eggs. Reduced eating patterns can result is laying less. So make changes later.This is my girl Rosie.
