Is moss ok?

So I've had my cham for a while and done extensive research. I've noticed however that because of his missing fingernail he seems to be clumsy. When I open his cage and if he's surprised to see me, he'll jerk a little too hard at me and end of falling off his perch. Or I'll be laying in bed watching him speed so fast around the cage that he'll miss a step and fall. He is very active and in perfect health and has a very strong grip. I'm just afraid of his falling, so I recently bought a carpet of live shag moss to cover most of his floor, that way if he falls again he won't break anything. I'm just curious if it is safe for chameleons.

OK, I dont think he will cause he only feeds when the food is on the top of his cage

Feeder tend to hide in stuff at the bottom of the cage. It won't matter as much if you cup feed.

Iaways place them near the top and if they do hide I feed them to him since he eats all his food quickly
