Is it possible?

Does anybody know if its possible to breed a chameleon and a gecko? I want to create a super chameleon species that can run on walls! I'm gonna call it a chamecko!

What? No?! I'm kidding folks ;). I just signed up and thought it only proper that I take a second to introduce myself. I've been reading on here for a while now as my plan at least currently is to add a chameleon to my zoo sometime later this year. I've been keeping reptiles and most everything else for I don't even know how long anymore - well over a decade. Never chameleons though, lots of other animals though. My first reptiles were a pair of green anoles that bred like rabbits. Other than anoles I've also kept various species of geckos in the past including a very cantankerous tokay gecko. I've also had a bearded dragon that was just a complete ham. Currently the only reptiles I have are a pair of steppe runners - awesome little desert lizards. Other than herps I've also had freshwater tanks long ago and then for the last decade have also kept reef tanks.

Just tore down my last marine tank a couple weeks ago though to make room for the enclosure I'm going to be building for either a veiled or panther chameleon (TBH I haven't decided on which yet). It'll be somewhere on the scale of 2ftx3ftx6 or 7ft tall. I'm hoping to get started building on it soon so I can decorate it and let the plants grow in for a few months, before the weather warms here enough to even consider shopping for a cham. :)

Welcome. Your cage build sounds like it will be cool. Looking forward to a build thread with lots and lots of pictures. :)

Thank you all :D.

Got started on the cage build this past weekend. Nothing much to look at at the moment as its still just a pile of boards - once its actually something to look at though I'll get some pictures up.

Welcome to the Forums!!! Your first sentence was genius because it definitely had me concerned, LOL!!

Yeah, I have to admit that one struck me speechless! Where oh where to start educating this OP! Now I'm relieved as I tend to be crabby on Mondays.

I think you should get some Trioceros sternfeldi (Rudis) chameleon 2 fem 1 male and you don't have to bother with laying bin cause they have live birth

For the time being I am leaning more towards veiled, love the colors of some of the panthers; but there is just something about the vieled which is clicking more right now :D.

Those are very pretty chams! A little smaller than what I'm looking for to start off with though. Part of the reason I started looking into chams several months ago is that I was searching for ideas on a larger lizard capable of thinning down some of my population of larger dubias. I have an expanding colony of dubias and nothing to eat them after they larger than about 1/2".

ALTHOUGH, after I get this cage build there should be another 2ftx2ft space right beside it :D.
