is it ok to pick up a cham after it falls asleep?

I am putting my cham in an outdoors cage and wondered if the weather got bad at night could I get him if he is asleep and put him inside?

I would try not to wake him up once he falls asleep, but definitely would if it meant getting him out of a storm

I would leave him sleep and cover the cage with something.
