is it bad to sit and look at your chameleon through out the day?

I know they like to blend in to their surroundings but my cham is pretty friendly so i was just seeing what people to say about this. Will it stress him out if i keep lookin at him?

I don't think so, not unless you're constantly bothering him by getting right up on his enclosure or taking him out.

I have my boys with me in my office and they don't seem to mind at all. They actually get more treats with me being around all of the time! ;)

I'm lucky that I get to work from home and have my boy right next to my computer....I look at him a lot during the day and although they can't hear, I do talk to him.....he seems to enjoy me being here with him all day.

I hang out in my cham room as much as I can. :p They seem to like it as they know when I am in there they get to come out and play. :D

my guy

From the day I brought him home has been in the living room. He is fine and watches me all day long.... lol

I have only had mine a little over a week but hes in my bedroom and i love lookin at him and sittin in front of the cage. hes pretty friendly so im just makin sure hes actually down with it lol glad you guys do the same thing

If you sit still and don't peer right into the cage, it's probably not a problem for the chameleon...

Please don't devote most of your days to chameleon gazing....that would be a problem for you.

its not like i sit there hours on end lookin at him, just makin sure few times a day isnt gonna piss the guy off lol

When i first got my chameleon i was sitting in front of his cage for like 30 minutes just watching him move around. She thought she was blending in. Wow i am such a reptile geek!

Smeagie doesnt mind me watching him when he eats and drinks but Squee does not like to be staired at and will actually freez and stop chewing his food if I am stairing.
Smidget simply will not eat or drink if he knows I am near by and stairing at him.
Noogie gets freaked out if I stair at him. He gets uncomfortable and moves behind some leaves or something to hide :p

Just an fyi, chams dont really blend to their surroundings, thats a common myth.

but like everyone else said, if you peek in on them every once in a while, maybe stop and go look into the cage and watch them for a minute, most wont freak.
though they may look at you funny everytime, as if to say, wtf are you doing, im in a cage, where do you think im going? ;)

You need to come over and talk to my chams. If they don't blend in with the surroundings why does it take me so long to find some of them? Lenny has a very large room, but I have trouble finding some of them in their cages.

I am glad I'm not the only one! Kush is still in his baby cage and it sometimes takes me a while to find him! There's been a time or two when I have convinced myself that he has gotten loose, so I will reach in and move a plant a little bit, then I will see movement! A lot of times, he is right in front of my face!

I have an open concept house and all the bedrooms are taken by my children at the moment (damn kids - when are they moving out?) so until one of them moves I have no room to spare for a cham room. Therefore my chams have always been kept in my livingroom/dining room area where I have a great view of them climbing, basking...you know, doing chameleon things. Every morning I sit and have a cup of coffee with my 4 year old veiled...he watches me watch him...I talk to him...he rolls his eyes around in answer. We have a great time together and he's the only 'kid' of mine that doesn't talk back! :D
