Is it normal for chameleons to have off days wen it comes to food?? I have a 7 month old panther and all he has eaten this morning is 1 loctus and about 4 milworm

This is normal. Some go on hunger strikes too. You said he did eat some so as long as you don't see any other changes.. It's probably nothing to be concerned with. Just keep an eye on it. :)

As in, changes in his health. Something that would make you think something is wrong. Slowing down on eating or not eating everyday is normal.

Often their eating will slow down as they get older and their growth slows. Are you providing a lot of variety in his diet? He could be getting bored with his food too if you are only offering 2-3 different feeders.

As mentioned, so long as he is eating (even if it's less sometimes) and you see nothing else that concerns you, I wouldn't worry about it.

Exactly :D

No just loctus and mealworm

OK, then it could very well be he's bored with what he's getting. Think if you could only eat the same thing day after day? Variety is important not only for their mental health, but also their physical health. Also important is a proper gutload.

You can feed silkworms, hornworms, superworms, butterworms, crickets, roaches, crickets, isopods, etc., etc., etc. One of our members, sandrachameleon has great info on feeder variety and gutloading. Check out her blog for more info, but you definitely need to get a better variety of feeders for him.

I wouldn't use fruit flies. They're too small for a 7 month old panther. They're usually only used for babies.

OP, where do you get your locusts from?? Do you catch them or you know a site that sells them? I'd love to get some.

Also, i think 4 meal worms in one feeding or one day is quite a bit, no? I believe they offer very little nutritional value, and there hard shell can cause some digestion problems if offered too frequently.. Should be just a treat offered sparingly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Yes, they should not form more than 20% of the diet, but then ideally, nothing should. Variety and a good gutload are key to the health of your chameleon.

I use meal worms to handfeed as well to keep my cham used to my hand.. I'd just limit the amount you give him if it's everyday. Maybe 1-2 a day as a treat rather than 3-4, and only after he's eaten at least one to two of his other feeders. Just my opinion though..

Lucky you that you can buy Locusts! I haven't heard of anywhere I can buy them.. I've considered buying praying mantis, but they're expensive to buy them at the size where they're ready to feed, and too time-consuming to buy them as babies and raise them to feeding size.

Calcium worms and roaches both make excellent feeders. If you can get them, I would definitely add them to your feeder list.
