HEYA! i am planning to breed my veiled chameleons..

i live in the Phil, room temp is 85++. i am having a hard time choosing the right incubator because in videos and caresheets it is based on colder areas.. what incubator do you recommend with chillers? i heard about exoterra but reviews are bad, any ideas? THANKS

Cheap styrofoam box that fish arrive in at local pet store. Just ask them, they will most likely give you a couple.

I have two Exo Terra's. They are the "improved" ones. I was concerned also about all the bad reviews but they seem to be working fine. You will need a thermometer to go inside though, the temperature displayed on the unit is off by several degrees on both of my mine. I bought them new off ebay for a really good price.

I had the old exoterra one for 8 months before it broke. I really like how it worked before it broke. The cooling chip got too much condensation from high humidity on it and shorted out. I was told that it was a common problem with the old design.

I wasn't going to buy a new one but no one else makes a cooler for that price. I just got one of the new designed ones. I'm told that they have the high humidity issue fixed. So far so good.

i've heard about hot and cold hovabators but when i searched it nothing comes out.. only hot hovabator..haha and is there any other models of exoterra incubators? can i ask if what model of exoterra are you using so that i can also buy what you bought

I think the Hovabators are only heating incubators.

I use a ReptiPro 6000. I do not use any water in the humidity trays since my eggs are in sealed containers. I've only been running it for a few month's but the temp has been holding rock solid. The display is off from the actual by a few degree's.

If you want to build your own- a mini fridge plugged into a thermostat with a cooling function such as a repstat 4 may do the trick.

I would probably be tempted to go low tech first- I'd dig a hole, insert a coleman cooler or plastic garbage can so the lid is at ground level, close the lid, and check the temperature inside for a week or two and see if I got lucky... The garbage can idea is actually used here by some mountain folks to keep root vegetables for eating for many months... The temp remains cool and stable and the rubber garbage can is waterpoof.
