i have read a lot of articles on this and was just wondering about the place were they lay their eggs could i just use sand and soil mixed together or do i have to use something else anyone who has bred crickets please chime in and help me here i could really use it

I've had the best luck with eco-earth (coco fiber). It does not mold so you can keep it wet without having stuff growing on it.

i just looked it up and petsmart has some for about 7 bucks im not sure if thats expensive or what but ile probally end up getting it still open to suggestions tho if anyone else had any ideas

I have been successively using Organic dirt bought from Walmart. Make sure that the soil is 100% organic. I have heard good things about the Eco Earth like being able to re use it so I ordered three bricks of the stuff and I will be trying it out. The best thing to use for them to lay their eggs in is a "Ziploc" plastic sandwich container. Fill it with the substrate and lightly pack it down flat. If you leave the substrate loose they will lay eggs on the top and these will dry out and die. What is good with the coconut fiber is you can empty it into a bowl after the eggs have hatched, re-soak it, and use it again.

I now have more than 3000 little ones running around :D

so has anybody just used sand cause thats all i have available right now is just regular sand im going to try it and see if it works

soil and sand mix is fine. Just keep it moist and temps warm for the eggs to hatch in a timely manor.
