Darn! I've held my veiled usually on the way back and forth from outside time. I hold him on my fingers above my head but lately he has climbed down my arm and gets on my shirt. When he stayed on my hand I didn't notice anything but when he climbs on my arm I get these big red welts. He is much bigger now than when I got him, and the welts start as soon as he touches my skin. Today was the first time I watched him walk and see the welts appear. Anybody else have this? I washed my arm real good as soon as I put him away. I'm not too worried as I'm allergic to a lot of things. Just venting my disappointment.

I had it too with the veiled.. their claw is sharp.. try to wash its feet before handing?? I don't know ... I just thought there were scratches and then it spreads a lil.. Not too bad. Only happens to me when they become adult because their claws get bigger and stronger. Babies and Juv does no harm to me.

my adult mellers does this to me but his claws are sharp and he has a powerful grip i just thought the scratches were swelling

the human dermal tissue can be easly irritated after the first layer is scratched, this allows bacteria or other types of outside substances in, this can irritated your skin, something like dust in the air , or soil .
he could have something from the cage your allergic more then the chameleon. i would assume maybe the plants or something he is touching. i find it unlikely that a reptile can actually cause an allergic irritation. but not impossible.

Hmm, well at least I'm not the only one. It's not going to worry me. I did have some roaches that I was terribly allergic to and had to get rid of them. I still have other roaches just not those. I have a bearded dragon and my arms stay scratched up from her but I didn't experience the welts like I do from the cham. I'll just chalk it up to just one of those things. Thanks everybody!
