Identify this part out of his vent?

Ok, I come home from work and I noticed my veiled cham has this thing protruding out of his anus. At first I thought it was his intestine due to constipation - maybe eating too many crickets at one serving (8 every other day and lack of water) . But then he goes poo and it comes out no problems next to his vent. I tried giving him some water and a shower to keep him hydrated and I notice he can move it as well . Is this his reproductive organ or sperm plug? He is 2 1/2 years old. Here are pics for your review. What should I do?

ive heard of other reptiles doing this. i think its a prolapse. my friend had it happen to a snake and said it goes back in by itself over time. but you do gotta keep it clean. not sure if this relates to chameleons or not though... good luck with your lizard.

If he's not pulling it back in it is probaby a prolapse. In which case he needs a vet now. If he pulls it back in, it's probaby his man parts. If it's a prolapse go get some KYjelly or other lube and put it on it to keep it moist, then take him to the vet asap. Some prolapses can be very dangerous, only a vet can put it back in as it needs stitching.

That IS a hemipene prolapse. You MUST keep it moist or it will quickly become necrotic which would require amputation. Keep it moist and get to a reptile vet ASAP.

Another thing you can do in the meantime is to soak it with sugar water to reduce the inflammation.

Thanks calling a vet and getting an examination done cost $140 and then if they operate to put it back in it costs extra. I am thinking $300 when all is said and done and they don't even take appointments - it's an emergency call ! I tried putting lube on it and trying to push it back and it looks like its going back in but I know he doesn't feel comfortable. I will try put it in sugar water and see if the inflammation goes down and I will try again.
