chameleon anatomy. I am hoping to find a vet level book.

There are care and feeding guides aplenty, and I have access to that kind of basic data here on this site also.

I am looking for a text book about chameleons. I want to look at anatomy, illness, the science of how they change color, natural habitat and detailed information like species families.
Information on the whole chameleon (lizard) industry, like shipping and the whole overseas sales practice would be helpful too, but I am more interested in the inner workings of the animals themselves.
I guess Im a little hooked.

I want to know more.

you can either PM Dave Weldon or go to his profile. He list in his signature a range of books that cover all aspects of chameleons.

The book you are looking for is Mader's Reptile medicine & Surgery or Mader's Reptile Surgery & Medicine when I bought it I paid $175 to $200 somewhere in there.

The cheapest way to get this book is to sign up for borders or Barns and Noble. You will eventually get a coupon for 30% off. I used it and got the book fairly cheep considering the list price.

Here it is for a great price...

Howdy,

I often refer to this book. Be sure that you are getting the ~2005 2nd edition and not the ~1995 1st edition. There's a BIG difference.

The book is written for vets but it doesn't take too much effort to gleen-out useful info for our situations . It's around 1200 pages long. Chameleon specific info can be found here and there. A lot of general reptile info can easily be interpretted for application to chameleons. The more you go looking through the book the more nuggets pop out of it :). It is a book for the serious keeper though. Some have been dissapointed that there aren't specific chapters written about chameleon medicine.

1264 pages. That should put me to sleep for a while. :D

I just remembered I got a $75 amazon gift certificate for Christmas. Been trying to figure out what I wanted to get with it.
