hes been sleeping most of the day in the corner of his cage or hiding behind his plants. he is eating well and well hydrated. i set him outside to get some natural sunlight once a day for about 30 minutes. there are flies around the plant that he hangs out in outside. could that possibly gotten him sick? help? or am i just being paranoid?

Although the problem is supposed to have been fixed with the compacts its possible for one or two of the old ones to still be out there...and some of the old ones were causing eye issues. Has he had this bulb for quite a while now or did you switch it just before the eye shutting started?

his eyes are fine. ive had the bulb for 6 months now. since ive had him. i got the same light set up the breeder had him in when i bought him. ive been told to switch the bulb out once a year

i dont have a uvb meter yet, but many suggest at 6 months its time for a new bulb.

do you have a pic of him in the back of the cage sleeping?

I think most people switch out their UVB bulbs every six months. Thats what I've done in the past but I was using 5.0 linear tubes. You might also consider some more foliage, your cage is extremely bare.

also just guessing at your current set up. your basking spot with a 100 watt and a (less than or right around) 12 inch distance from the basking perch. either your house temps are fairly cold or something aint right.
