When a cham is close to death they lose control of the mechanism in the skin that creates color change. You will often see odd patches of light or dark color that don't follow their "normal" coloration. After death their color fades to one overall dull color...but it can vary with the species. I'm so sorry!

Unfortunately if you think he's dead and by some miracle he's not he will be prob by the end of the day. Once they get to a certain point they can't come back no matter what you do.
