Hey CF

Im looking for a good tree to put in my XL reptibreeze cage that my future cham will love? does anyone know of a good one?
Like one that has good climbing branches is about 3-4 feet tall and the branches also go low? thanks :):D

Ficus are the best. You can also get some pothos witch is a vining plant.
Just wanted to add this is my opinion, :) I'm still new to chams, but I have seen many pictures

Im also new to chams but i work in a nursery.

Ficus can be trained to take many forms u can get one thats more shrub like with full coverage top to bottom. Or one thats been trimmed upright like a tall tree. Or a nice bonsai ficus but those are harder to find and expensive. Ficus can also be conditioned to full sun or shade. Very hearty too. Hard to kill. But they have very aggressive roots. And sometimes drop all their leaves if moved from a spot they were comfortable in. But Overall yer best bet.

Pothos and some ivy would be ok but u will have to tie it up a trellis or a nice big branch of grapewood or driftwood.

U could also go with a small gardenia or money tree. I personaly am getting tired of ficus and pothos and always keeping an eye out for something different but safe. But ficus and pothos are simply the overal best option.

One combo I love is a pothos hung below the dripper (cuz it's really hard to kill those things with too much water), and then a scheffluera arbicola under the photos, you can wrap the vines of the pothos down and around things, and they can grow rapidlly

I have scheffelara a large one and pothos. Ficus just can not keep them alive and tired of paying that much for a highway. After they die I cut the root ball off and put it in horizontal...

what about umbrella trees? i haven't heard anything negative about those..

Umbrella tree = schefflera

I tend to use a hanging Pathos below the mister and then a tall schefflera on a raised plant stand. The problem I have found is that many of the Organic soils do not drain well. I have been having better luck with the miracle grow organic soil mixed with playsand for drainage.

if having problems with drainage use palm/cactus soil. Its a high drainage mix cuz thats what cactus palms and citrus require.;)
Also im sorry for those who have problems keeping ficus alive. I had one that i left outside and neglected for a year. It lost 95% of its leaves its rootball was completely overgrown and rootbound in the pot. And my dog ate a lot of it. But it still lived and with some replanting and pruning it came back even bigger. Only thing that killed it was when my fiance let her rabbits eat it!...lol can someone say retic food:D
