New Husbandry!

Hey, all! I finally found the time (and the budget) to buy a few new plants for my veiled. I purchased two pothos, a dwarf money tree, a maidenhair fern, and a spider plant!

Of course, I checked on Rango mere minutes later… and noticed that he took a bite of his new pothos. I just sprayed it with lemon juice before quarantining it earlier, so it won’t harm him, but I definitely find it funny he couldn’t even wait a day!

Anyways… does anybody have any advice on how to make his cage look less empty? It’s an XL Reptibreeze, and I feel like five plants aren’t enough. Maybe I’m doing it wrong? 😅

Rango looks so much healthier than when you brought him home, look at his colors pop!

I use the Arcadia jungle dawn for my plants.

The XL cage is a lot to fill, just keep an eye on the plants in home depot/lowes; now is about the time when house plants go on sale to make room for the outdoor plants. You might score a cheap ficus, schefflera, or money tree. Just remember to quarantine, wash new plants, and keep an eye out for pests before adding them to the cage.

Awesome! The plant nursery I went to sold each plant for $20, so I ended up paying just over $100 for all of Rango’s new plants. I’m definitely up to purchase some cheaper plants! 😵‍💫

Also, I agree— he is much more vibrant now! His casque is also much taller and he’s more active during the day, although it’s been a bit weird with daylights savings. Poor guy had to experience an extra hour of daytime before I corrected it 😅

Ouf... Definitely keep an eye out at home improvement stores. But I do have to admit, the plants from a nursery will be less likely to have pests.

My chams are totally having a time change crisis right now, but thankfully it's been announced that this time change will be the last!
